Britain launched its Great Exhibition of the North in spectacular style recently with a massive drone light display that lit up the sky over Newcastle and Gateshead in the north of the country. An estimated 20,000 people lined the banks of the river Tyne for a show to open the Exhibition, which will attract around three million people.

An amazing 100 drones equipped with LED lights flew in formation to form different three-dimensional shapes in a blaze of creative choreography. The launch also featured an 80-meter sculpture on the river and a huge fireworks display.

The Exhibition, which goes on for a whopping 80 days, is designed to showcase the creativity, community, and culture of the people of northern Great Britain. Forty venues and scores of artists are featured in the Exhibition, which is also showing off the last piano of one of northern Britain’s most famous musicians, John Lennon.

And don’t think you can see the whole Exhibition in one day. The organizers say that to take in everything will need repeat visits. So if you’re visiting England this summer, don’t miss the Great Northern Exhibition.
