If you happen to find yourself in Zagreb, Croatia, there’s a museum you really must visit dedicated to one of the strangest subjects you can imagine. Head on over to The Museum of Broken Relationships for an intriguing look into the world of broken hearts and ended love.

When you first start looking at the Museum’s contents, you might think the seemingly strange collection of objects is unrelated. But on closer inspection, you realize that these objects tell the stories of love gone wrong from people around the world.

Artists Dražen Grubišić and his ex-partner Olinka Vištica founded the Museum after they broke up as an exploration of human romance and love. Each object housed in the Museum tells a different story about what it means to be a human in a relationship, and what happens when it’s over.

Although the end of a relationship is often a time for sadness and tears, the Museum isn’t all about tears and broken dreams. Some of the exhibits are downright humorous, and some of the stories are so unbelievable that they’re stranger than any fiction you can imagine, according to  Grubišić. The objects are, he says, “tokens of love … that made sense only in the relationship”.
