Camille Shu’s Artwork is Quite Appetizing

Amongst the things that make illustrator Camille Shu tick are plants and the things they do (or make). “I’m in complete awe of the things that grow around us,” she gushed in an interview with Ballpitmag. “Fruit, flowers, trees, all of it. Something simple like opening a blood orange from the store is a religious experience for me and makes me want to immediately get painting.”

Being a florist, as well as working part-time on a farm, means that Shu knows what she’s talking about. Her artwork is a way of combining her love for nature (particularly flowers and fruit) with her love of illustrating. These illustrations can be seen in murals, commercial, and editorial work.

Describing her aesthetic as “colorful and funky,” Shu likes to paint realistic scenes, to which she enjoys adding abstract shapes and colors. Using mainly Gouache, she hopes to bring more color into people’s lives through her art, as well as help people appreciate the world around us.

Her artwork – bright, joyous, and appetizing – is shared on her Instagram page. Take a look why don’t ya?
