Oakland-based artist Gabriel Schama is taking the art of wood carving to a whole other level. He uses a precise laser to carve mahogany plywood and then stack the pieces of laser-cut on top of each other to produce impressive and highly detailed wood sculptures. Using this technique, Schama can give his creations a distinct 3D effect and particular sense of depth to his creations.
What makes his work even more impressive is the fact that some of his art pieces have a shifting nature since you change the patterns and the look of the sculpture with the help of movable parts.
