Check Out These Wonderful Artworks On Manhole Covers In Japan

Since the 1980s, various cities in Japan have designed their manhole covers to showcase their unique local cultures. And to honor this artworks, a new festival was created in Tokyo.

Japanese Manhole Cover Festival  is a three-day event (Feb. 1-3 , 2019) dedicated to this kind of art. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience everything from the actual manhole covers to manhole cover goodies such as cookies, collector cards, miniatures and doormats.

Today more than 95% of the municipalities in Japan have unique manhole cover designs. Check out their amazing art below.
