Ema Smith’s Gentle שnd Dreamish Paintings

New York-based painter Ema Smith creates narrative oil paintings that look like they were just taken out from a dream. She is a contemporary artist who creates fine art, which she studied at Texas University, and later at Columbia.

Today, she is a well-established and widely recognized painter, whose artworks are filled with humor and symbolism. The one symbol she often uses is an anthropomorphized broom which seems to have a cultural meaning important to the artist. It’s supposed to communicate the change she wants to achieve through painting – change regarding gender stereotyping in our collective consciousness.

She has so far received very flattering criticism for her art and her paintings have seen many galleries and museums worldwide. Some of them are at Matrix 181 in Connecticut, at Le Consortium Museum in France, at the SALTS art center in Switzerland, the Simone Subal Gallery in NY and several other reputable locations. Smith has also received some important awards over the last twenty years, such as the Roy Crane Award and the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Painting.

She has made her art public on Instagram and she now has over 10k followers who admire her dreamish pieces of art!
