Turkish paper artist Sena Runa left the corporate world in 2015 to pursue her passion in life – making beautiful quilled artwork.
Quilling is a form of art that uses strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. Runa started quilling when she was working as an HR Specialist.
“While I was searching the internet for inspiration to find the right hobby for me, I found a colorful picture that was made from paper using the quilling technique, but I had no idea what it was called. I tried to make it (I had colored papers from my earlier hobby: origami), but it turned out awful! After exploring many quilled creations online, I soon found my own style,” she said in an interview with My Modern Met.
In 2017, she published a book titled Quilling Art, which features 20 amazing projects including a guitar, owl, butterfly, heart, and other popular motifs. She matched the intricate designs with vibrant colors to create exciting effects in her art pieces. The book also features easy-to-follow instructions with step-by-step photos and templates that will help you create your own stunning designs.
