Friendly Whale Returned a Woman’s Phone She Dropped in the Water

A few weeks ago, a beluga whale appeared in the waters around the city of Hammerfest, Norway. The Russian-made harness that was found on the animal and its friendly behavior made people believe that the whale was trained by the Russian navy for spying purposes.

Seeing beluga whales is not uncommon, but this particular whale is so friendly that it instantly became a star in Hammerfest. The residents there coming to feed, pet and take selfies with the adorable visitor.

One of those people was Ina Mansika. Not only she got to meet with beluga, but she also witnessed something incredible.

“We laid down on the dock to look at it and hopefully get the chance to pat it,” said Mansika to The Dodo. “I had forgotten to close my jacket pocket and my phone fell in the ocean. We assumed it would be gone forever, until the whale dove back down and came back a few moments later with my phone in its mouth!”
