Teresa Lim Makes Original Embroideries That Are Worth the Hype

There’s something highly gratifying in seeing artists take old fashioned methods and put a contemporary spin to them. Case in point: Teresa Lim’s embroideries. The Singapore-based illustrator and embroidery artist has graduated from Lasalle College of the Arts majoring in Fashion Textile Design, so you know she means business.

With over 80k followers on Instagram and collaborations with brands like Gucci, Changi Airport, Swarovski amongst others, Lim is equally inspired by art and music. In fact, she was originally trained as a classical violinist.

“After graduating from LASALLE College of the Arts, where I studied fashion, I didn’t really know what to do, I just wanted to do something I love, which is either music or art-related,” recalled Lim in an interview with Style Theory. “That’s when I started exploring embroidery. If I wasn’t doing what I’m doing now, I’ll probably be pursuing a career in music,” she added.

According to Lim, there’s no contradiction between the two, as music and art go hand in hand, with each supplementing the other. “I like being able to create new things every day. It’s what keeps me going,” she says.
