These 3D Illustrated Kukeri Masks are Simply Stunning

Bulgarian artist Miroslav Dimitrov recently presented an intriguing new project in which he showcased the beauty of Kukeri masks through 3D illustrations. Titled Kukeri Project, it draws inspiration from traditional rituals originating from South and Central Europe countries like Serbia, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Moldova, and others.

Kukeri masks are worn by men and women as part of a dance which aims to scare evil spirits and bring health and prosperity to the people. The masks, which are sometimes double-faces, are usually designed to represent certain animals and can be accompanied by a costume.

In his recreation of masks using computer software, Dimitrov decided to keep the traditional outlines of the mask but managed to put his own stamp on the designs which gave amazing results. Check out his works below.
