The Grinch film was released on November 9 and Universal Studios had a clever tactic to market the 3D animated Christmas comedy movie and lure moviegoers into going to theaters.
Several hilarious billboards were spotted across the US, showing off the Grinch’s sarcastic side. People can’t help but notice the huge billboards with the green creature’s truth bombs and snarky remarks. These billboards were also strategically placed based on the location like in Los Angeles, the Grinch gave his cranky comments towards aspiring actors: “Oh, you’re trying to make it in Hollywood? Let me know how that goes.” In New York, one poster stated: “Keep honking. It will make everything go faster.”
The latest film is the third screen adaptation of Dr. Seuss classic, following the TV special from 1966 and the live-action version starring Jim Carrey in 2000.
The Grinch has a successful opening weekend at the box office thanks to these viral billboard campaigns.
Unless you’re a top percenter, life in the big apple could seem a bit arduous at times. Occupied with such busy lives, New Yorkers are often presumed to be not very welcoming. I love how this AD for the Grinch movie delivers a very subliminal, yet humorous, message! #ADPR221 pic.twitter.com/MxjvhCccLe

I’ve been hopeful for this movie ever since I saw that Grinch ad in LA that said “oh, you’re trying to make it in Hollywood? Let me know how that goes.” pic.twitter.com/FYKxCL6Wo6
