“Let what you do be what you love,” this is what inspires artist Mary Kenyon to do what she loves – arts and crafts.
From a very young age, Kenyon was already exposed in the artistic world. Her late dad was an accomplished oil painter and leather carver. Being surrounded by so much inspiration and creativity had led her to explore a variety of artworks such as making fantasy shells, mermaids, jewelry,
One of her works is transforming real seashells into beautiful decorative items. Her pieces are very details and look like ancient treasures that can be found at the bottom of the sea. As for the process, the self-taught artist explains, “I have decoupaged the image on the shell and painted and retouched it as the picture was smaller than the shell. The gold leafing around the outer edge is done by hand and I have also added a pearlecents to the painting to give it a pearly glow. The final touch is the vintage look brass filigree that is embellished with a beautiful rhinestone in the center and smaller ones on either side. The shell is supported by 2 glass stones.”
