This Epic 100-Pound Doughnut Can Feed 375 People

California’s JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa took gigantic food to a whole other level. Their pastry team recently decided to make an epic 100-pound doughnut and serve it to the guests. The team took two days to make it, and they ended up with a treat that can feed up to 375 people.

Since this doughnut is so big, resorts’ pastry team couldn’t bake it all at once. They first had to assemble multiple layers of vanilla chiffon cake and raspberry jam, and then trim it into a doughnut shape. The layers were then covered with frosting and fondant, before being decorated with pink chocolate and sprinkles to give it a true doughnut feel. The chefs ended up spending 35 pounds of flour, 10 pounds of eggs and 15 pounds of sugar for their creation.

“We want to keep things interesting,” said JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa executive chef Peter Smith about this project. “And it’s fun for us as chefs, to find new ways to present food.”
