After her husband’s comment that he does all the cleaning, Jalie Gil decided to go on a “week-long strike on not cleaning any of his stuff because he swears to God he is the one cleaning.” She also began capturing everything on camera and posting it onto her TikTok account.
The 27-year-old Florida-based woman has been living with her husband since 2015, and for the last six years, she’s been cleaning after him. But not anymore. She picked up the camera and started a “document series” titled Wife Strike.
“I knew there had to be people out there with these husband and cohabiter woes. I realized that I was not alone and that I was conditioned to silently clean up after my husband that he literally forgets he ever left a mess behind,” she said in an interview for Bored Panda.
Unfolded laundry, the laundry basket full of dirty clothes, shoes and socks left everywhere, dirty toilet seat, and more uncleaned stuff can be seen in the videos. But after some time, Jaile’s husband made small improvements.
“I think the overall message is setting in. However, I’m thinking a week-long is not enough, and I will follow through until the areas of concern are addressed. So hopefully, he gets the full scope of what I do,” she added.
