Angela Mckay’s Illustrations Are the Meaning of Summer

With winter fading into spring, we’re already dreaming of sunshine and beaches. And who could blame us? Scrolling through Angela Mckay’s bright illustrations, shared on her Instagram page, it’s hard not to daydream of summer.

Her work, made with gouache and watercolor, portrays happy people slouching on the beach and soaking in some sun. All pieces are drawn and painted by hand before being digitally printed.

Originally hailing from the dazzling shores of Australia and the humid tropics of Thailand, Mckay now works in Ohkii Studio, based in Brooklyn, New York.

And coming from a colorful background means she takes her inspiration from many places including overseas travel adventures, folk tales, and old murder mystery novels.

Here comes the sun!
