When it comes to celebrity pets, Crusoe, a miniature black and tan Dachshund from Canada, takes the cake. His videos, showcasing his wild adventures in some even wilder outfits, have topped over 1.1 billion views, many of which reaching 30+ million views individually; and his Instagram page has amassed more than 750k followers.
Born in Montreal, he was raised near Mont Tremblant, Quebec for the first couple years of his life before moving to Ottawa, Ontario. His television debut came into the first year of his life, after winning best trick at an annual wiener dog event. He had since turned into somewhat of an international sensation and has even won a People’s Choice Award for Animal Star in 2018.
Named after Robinson Crusoe for his deep sense of adventure and natural ability to instill fascination in the public eye, he has traveled the globe, visiting places like Maine, the Bahamas, Florida, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Mexico, as well as having toured all across the US & Canada. He’s also the “author” of a self-titled New York Times Bestselling book, because – why not?
His parents, Ryan and Lauren, are also his managers and promoters. But according to them, Crusoe’s tagline is “the wiener dog who thinks he’s more of a celebrity than he really is.”
