The artistic collaboration, Cabeza Patata (illustrator Katie Menzies and animator Abel Reverter), is here to put a smile on your face. With ballooned up characters that are full of color and playfulness, it’s hard to stay indifferent to their 3D creations.
The two artists work side by side to create their happy-go-lucky characters. With collaborations with the New York Times, Apple, and Google, Cabeza Patata are the rock stars of Instagram.
“We care about diversity and female empowerment and we joined forces to create a world of playful yet strong characters, full of energy and positivity,” they write on their website.
But funnily enough, Menzies and Reverter’s collaboration began as a sort of mistake.
“One afternoon in February 2018 we decided to do an experiment translating a simple 2D illustration of Katie’s into 3D,” they recalled to It’s Nice That Magazine. “A dozen illustrations later, people started asking if we were a studio, and at that point, we became Cabeza Patata.”
