Mother and Daughter Celebrate Black History Month

In February 2017, Twitter user Cristi Smith-Jones and her daughter Lola started a photo project that paid tribute to Black History Month.

They recreated photos of legendary women by dressing up her 5-year-old girl. Since they were a lot of black female icons worth to mention, Smith-Jones decided to take one photo a day and narrowed down the list to 29 outstanding people. Her daughter enjoyed not only posing as different figures, but she also learned about black women who made an impact in the past.

This year, the duo decided to honor various African Americans who have made contributions to arts and music.
