Being an artist in the 21st century isn’t easy at all, because you need to offer the audience something that isn’t “already seen”. Although nowadays modern art is usually presented in digital format, there are artists who still love to hold a painting brush in their hands.
Eugeniya Dudnikova is a Russian artist who, through her entire career, used and experimented with all source of canvases. However, recently she decided to use trees as canvases for her paintings. Inspired by the landscapes that surrounded her, the project called “Painting on Trees” took place in local parks and forests where she painted directly onto the trunk of the trees.
Dudnikova herself likes to refer to these artworks as “augmented reality” that “complement the environment” and create “intriguing narratives.”
