Stratolaunch: the World’s Biggest Plane Takes Off

It’s official! The biggest plane in the world had its first flight this Saturday. Known as Stratolaunch, this enormous bird made a victory leap over the Mojave Desert in California. This is a moment we’ve been waiting for for a while, but it was all worth it. With a bigger wingspan than an American football field, this plane is planned to be used as a launching pad for satellites.

The Stratolaunch company was set up by Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft back in 2011. Although Paul did not live to see this big achievement, the flight is of huge significance for the whole world. The current CEO shared his excitement during a press release.

“I’m really excited today to share that we have successfully flown the Stratolaunch aircraft for its first test flight this morning. It was an emotional moment for me to personally watch this majestic bird take flight and to see Paul Allen’s dream come to life in front of my very eyes,” said the CEO of Stratolaunch, Jean Floyd.
