A Giant Purple Sea Monster Takes Over a Philadelphia Warehouse

Seeing gigantic tentacles coming out of a two-story abandoned warehouse in Philadelphia’s Navy Yard, people were convinced that a purple sea monster is lurking inside. But, as cool as that would sound, the tentacles were, in fact, a part of the installation Sea Monsters HERE, done by British artists Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas.

Luker and Estrellas teamed up with anonymous artist collective Group X, and placed twenty purple inflatable tentacles, ranging from 32 to 40 feet, on strategic locations in and around the warehouse to make it seem like sea monster made its home there. Well, they fooled us, that’s for sure.

If you would like to see the installation up close, the giant purple sea monster will be at the warehouse until November 13th. Until then, check out some photos below.
