South African designer and illustrator, Sonelle van der Merwe, created the Mugshots project where she illustrates mugs inspired by pop culture.
“I’m inspired by pop culture and the many symbols and icons in our day-to-day lives”, the Durban-based artist wrote on Bored Panda. “For me, the design should enhance the mundane, and what could be more ordinary than something most of us hold in our hands every day – the humble coffee mug? I’ve combined form, function, and a good dose of crazy to bring these to life.”
Van der Merwe shares her mugs on her Instagram profile. So far she drew 11 mugshots. You can also find her on Behance.
