Dutch Dance Troupe Becomes Viral With Stunning Choreography for “Somebody That I Used to Know”

Australian musician Gotye is now just somebody that we used to know. But back in the early 2010s, he was one of the biggest music stars in the world thanks to the hit single “Somebody That I Used to Know”. Now, more than a decade later, Dutch dance troupe CDK Company is bringing both Gotye and the track to relevance.

CDK Company recently shared dance choreography for “Somebody That I Used to Know”, which has left internet users stunned. Their video, which quickly went viral, sees the dancers in retro clothes coordinate their moves perfectly with the song’s tunes while delivering impressive solo and group sequences. Additionally, the camera work and the overall visual style of the video provide an extra touch to make it a captivating watch.

Internet users rushed to the comments section to praise the video. One user said it “deserves an Oscar for world’s best choreography!” While another wrote that the whole thing looks “like if Wes Anderson was a dance choreographer.”

Upon its release in 2011, “Somebody That I Used to Know,” which featured a guest appearance from New Zealand singer Kimbra, topped the charts in the United States and the United Kingdom, among other countries. It was also the best-selling single in 2012.

Since releasing “Somebody That I Used to Know”, Gotye has mostly been out of the spotlight. He released two non-album singles, with the most recent one coming in 2013.
