Jay Fai is a street-side restaurant located in Bangkok that has been awarded a Michelin star. It was the first restaurant of its kind in Thailand that received such an honorable prize.

Its owner and chef is a 73-year old grandma called Supinya Junsuta who opened her restaurant in the 1980s, where she originally served congee and noodle dishes following her mother’s recipes. After some experimenting, she came up with her crab-meat omelet recipe, which made her world famous.

Nicknamed after her restaurant, Jai Fai serves wok-cooked seafood dishes that are prepared exclusively by her, however, she has help, assistants, who are only allowed to help her with the preparation of the ingredients and passing things to her.

Opened five days a week, from Tuesday to Saturday, from 2:30 pm to midnight when it closes its doors, the restaurant serves only 7 tables, and booking in advance is a must.
