A whole drama took place in Bensheim, Germany to rescue a chubby rat that got itself caught in a sewer grate. When the local animal rescue organization realized they are unable to free the little animal, they decided to call the firefighters for help.
“She had a lot of winter flab and was stuck fast at her hip – there was no going forward or back,” the animal rescuer Michael Sehr explained.
Fortunately, the firefighters succeed in their mission; they were able to prop up the gate, get a rescue loop around the rat and free it.
In gratitude, the two little girls who discovered the captured rat gave the rescuers a drawing of it surrounded by hearts.
