Bruce Munro’s Light Installations Illuminate Their Surroundings

British artist Bruce Munro uses light to create stunning installations. He is best known for his immersive large-scale installations. Munro’s subject matter is usually inspired by his interest in shared human experience.

He has spent over 30 years recording ideas and images in his sketchbooks, which he returns to as his reference for creating incredible artworks.

Munro has illuminated landscapes around the world with his “Field of Light” installations, which consist of thousands of glowing orbs that accentuates the surroundings of his site-specific projects.

His recent work, called Field of Light at Sensorio, is located in a 15-acre site in the beautiful hillside in Paso Robles, a city nestled in California’s wine country. It is a solar-powered immersive art installation, composed of nearly 60,000 sparkling lights in the form of stemmed spheres lit by fibre-optics. They glow in varying colors, breathing new life into the scenery, giving visitors a truly magical experience.
