Georgia Duffy, the owner of the independent bookshop ImaginedThings from Harrogate, tweeted her “worst day ever” in terms of sales when she took a mere £12.34 that day. After her desperate plea on Twitter, Duffy received a flood of support.

Her tweet, which was also a plea asking for support was clicked over a million times and retweeted by over 4,000 people. After this, Duffy says that the response to her plea was nothing but phenomenal. She went on to say that customers from all over the country are now placing their orders with her.

Duffy’s bookshop was the very first independent one in Harrogate in about 20 years. It opened sometime in July last year. The 28-year-old owner claims that since she opened her shop, she had experienced a lot of difficult periods. However, the past few weeks have been especially tough which is when she decided to tweet her message to ask for support.

However, Duffy never expected her tweet to go viral and receive such an amazing response. According to her, a lot of people started sending her messages, placing orders, and giving donations. She’s amazed at what happened and is extremely grateful for all the support.
