Illustrator Combines Sculpture, Photography and Digital Editing

Blending digital editing with sculpture and photography is no easy task. Still, Yuichi Ikehata finds a way to blend all three to create hybrid works. These pieces of art meld together reality with some fictionalized interpretation. The humanoid forms are pierced with holes, which appear to be decaying in different states.

The process of creating the digital manipulations is complex. Ikehata starts by taking pictures of his own body and in different poses. He then uses a wire to recreate the form in simple structures three-dimensionally. Lastly, he adds parts of the original image to the sculpture using digital editing. This reintroduces a fractured reality to the wire imitation he made. The process seems long, but the results are unique and simply astonishing.

Ikehata posts most of his works on his Instagram page. Scroll below to see some of his amazing art pieces.
