Photographer Captures the Beauty of Rare Tropical Glacier at Night

Chicago-based photographer Reuben Wu amazed us with his unique and stunning series of photographs Lux Noctis, in which he combines lighted drone patterns with natural landscapes. This time Wu decided to travel to Peru to continue his award-winning series of images and capture Pastoruri Glacier, one of the rare remaining tropical glaciers on the planet.

Wu faced many challenges in order to reach the glacier, which sits 17,000 feet above sea level, but managed to bring back amazing photos which show the beauty of Pastoruri Glacier at night.

“I photographed the glacier with conflicting feelings.” – Wu told Colossal. “I wanted to show evidence of its alarming retreat, yet I was drawn to the epic scale of the ice which remained. In the end I leaned towards the latter, but each photograph represents a bleak reality, a fading memory of what once stood.”
